The students council aims at training its members in
leadership. There is Head Boy, Head Girl, four Captains
and Games captains. These children shoulder
various responsibilities and assist in the smooth
running of the school.
The investiture ceremony is a solemn occasion when these
leaders are sworn in the presence of their parents and
the entire school family. Leadership Camps and
personalities camps are organized specially for class IX
students to prepare them better as captains.
The Four houses Bhabha, Tagore, Nehru and Shivaji are in
constant whirl of inter house activity. There is
the inter-house quiz, the inter-house dramatic & debates
and the inter-house elocution is in English, Marathi and
Sports and Physical education also
play a major part in the all around development of
students. Sports such as Basketball and Volleyball are
available on campus. Indoor sports such as badminton,
table tennis & the gymnasium are available throughout
the year. Inter House/ and Inter School competitions are
also encouraged and our students have often excelled
themselves at various levels.
Special attraction is our own swimming pool with a full
time coach. Karate has always been very popular with
students and classes are conducted by experts in the
Yoga and mediation help students prepare and cope with
modern life with all its stress and strain. Mental and
Physical relaxation are equally important for better
Excursions form and important
method for learning in our school. All classes go out
for walks and treks to places of educational
significance. The follow up to these visits is seen in
letter writing or writing a report. Outdoor learning
activities through practical experience allows students
to participate and enjoy all activities of student life.
Programmes and competitions both
within the school and outside gives students the
opportunities to allow all their talents to grow and
flourish. Debate, Elocution, Dramatic and Quiz programs
are frequently organized. Craft, drawing and painting
encourages artistic and vocational skills as well.
Social service by way of rural
development work, assistance and sensitivity to those
less fortunate than ourselves, inculcates a spirit of
good citizenship. Through these activities we may
achieve Gandhiji's motto "Self Help is The Best Help"
Without forgetingthe authenticity
of our culture our approach is to teach and keep
learning process as child-centered as possible through
the medium of art and work experience. Drawing,
painting, fabric and clay work, along with needle work
brings out the finest aesthetic skills of our students
and all these talents go a long way in making students
life at DC a complete and fulfilling one.
